I am currently serving in my second term as Councillor for West Coast Council.

The West Coast is my home.  Like so many of our residents, I have a strong connection and a shared history with this region.  The West Coast affords me a sense of self – my past, present and future.

Associated with my employment in the community services sector, I have an interest in community development.  When added to the desire to live the unique lifestyle of a Westcoaster, it is this sense of community inclusion that lead to my interest in participation in local government.  I hope that my representation on Council continues to reflect this commitment and my quest to achieve the best outcomes for our residents and making the most of our resources.

Being a Councillor can be rewarding.  Being a Councillor can also be frustrating and challenging.  I learn much from these frustrations and challenges.  I sincerely hope that, in time, more women will accept the challenge of being an elected representative of the West Coast.

I arrived in Queenstown at age six, my parents came through Queenstown from Hobart for a holiday and decided to stay.  I went to Queenstown Central Primary School, then onto Murray High and finally completed my schooling at the West Coast Community College, formerly the TAFE complex and now location of the Hub.
Apart from a few brief excursions to the big island I have lived most of my life in Queenstown.
Up until recently I was employed by CMT as a mill operator.  Prior to that I worked for the Education Department as the coordinator of the local Online Access Centre and did a brief stint teaching computing at the Queenstown TAFE complex.  I was also the AWU site representative for CMT up until being made redundant.  I served in the Army Reserve, initially the 12/40th Battalion in Tasmania and then the 8/7th Battalion in Victoria.
I live with my partner Sylvia, we have three adult children and four grandchildren all residing in Queenstown.  My parents and two brothers also reside here on the West Coast.
