Mayor's Message 26 July 2016

Council and MMG are moving forward with building a stronger relationship, holding a second meeting last week to discuss partnership and matters affecting Council, MMG and the Rosebery community.

Mine management, Councillors and Council staff will continue to meet regularly with the intention to create a memorandum of understanding moving into the future.

Last week I attended the Local Government Association of Tasmania annual conference, along with Council’s General Manager.  The conference provided us with the opportunity to network with others from across the local government sector and also to learn more about the process and challenges facing local government reform.

Council's Dog Management Policy has been extensively reviewed by staff and is now open for public submissions.  The document has been updated to more accurately reflect the Dog Control Act and also provide clearer guidelines around the issuing of licences for the keeping of several dogs.  The policy is available from the Council office and on the Public Notices section of this website, with submissions due by 12 August.

Applications for membership on the Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) are now open – a key move towards achieving the outcomes adopted in the West Coast Community Plan 2025. Individuals with West Coast interests and business and/or economic development experience are invited to submit an expression of interest for membership.  The committee will provide guidance and recommendations to Council.  More information is available by contacting Simon Lee via the Council Office.
