21 December 2015

Replacement of a section of footpath in Main Street, Zeehan will commence on 4 January 2016.

The section of footpath between Fowell and Belstead Streets was selected for replacement as part of the 2015-2016 Capital Works Program.

It is expected that 125 metres of footpath will be replaced, comprising of concrete 1.8 metres wide with the remaining width to be compacted metal.  Works are expected to be completed by the end of January.

The Zeehan works kick-off Council’s Footpath Improvement Program, with footpath replacements in Read Street, Tullah, Read Street, Rosebery and the Esplanade, Queenstown to commence upon conclusion of the Zeehan project. Footpaths were assessed in terms of safety issues, asset condition and budget limitations.

“$80,000 has been allocated in our current budget to complete these improvements across the selected sites,’ West Coast Mayor Phil Vickers said.  “Council recognises that many of our footpaths require upgrades and this is a start to that process.”
