Have you noticed the changes on this year's rates notice? Need help understanding your rates?
The Water and Sewerage charges have been removed and there is a new item called Stormwater.
The Water and Sewerage services will now be charged by the new Regional Corporation 'Cradle Mountain Water'. You can expect an invoice from them with in the next few months. For more information regarding these changes please call 136 992 837 or visit http://www.cmwater.com.au/.
As of 1st July 2009 there is a separate line item called stormwater on your rates notice. Residents have always been paying for this service which includes all our open drains, pipes, kerbing and stormwater pits across the community, but this is the first year it has been shown separately.
Council achieved this by lowering the variable residential rate by 32% down to 5.08c from 7.45c The stormwater costs have previously been included in the general rate. This new rating structure better aligns Council's revenue to our cost centres and allowed the revaluation to be spread more evenly across the entire West Coast community.
Council continues to offer four instalment dates, a concession discount and the option of a 5% discount for ratepayers who pay in full by the first instalment date.
