Community
It is Council's goal to deliver a range of quality community services that develop and foster a caring community.
Community Development Aims 2009-2010:

To ensure that the facilities provided are maintained in a satisfactory manner;

To collect fees for services provided;

To undertake a review of operations by reviewing all policies, procedures, professional agreements and collection of consumer data annually;

Ensure that appropriate income is generated from all facilities;

Review the procedures and operations in place, to ensure that the community receives optimum benefit from the provision of these services;

To promote services and distribute information to the wider community therefore increasing awareness and knowledge to potential consumers and stakeholders. Via media advertising, networking and dissemination service specific material;

Ensure services and programs are provided in a culturally safe and appropriate and welcoming manner by providing consumers with privacy and confidentiality;

Ensure services are accessible to all consumers and there are no barriers to access assistance by providing alternative pathways to external services if required.
Council also administers the services of Family Support, West Coast Crisis Accommodation and Community Housing. Details regarding these services can be obtained by telephoning 64 714 700.
Any community group, service organisation or sporting association requiring assistance with grant applications or with sourcing grant and other funding information can contact the Tourism and Community Liaison Officer.
