Other Tasmanian Council's

Break O'Day Council - located on Tasmania's East Coast and includes the towns of St Helens, Scamander, Falmouth, Four Mile Creek, Beaumaris, Binalong Bay, St Mary's, Fingal and others.  One of the largest local government areas in the state.

Brighton Council - located in Southern Tasmania and includes the towns of Brighton, Old Beach, Bridgewater, Gagebrook and Pontville.

Burnie City Council - located on the North West Coast.

Central Coast Council - close to the beaches and the wilderness, includes the town of Ulverstone.

Central Highlands - includes the towns of Bothwell, Hamilton, Gretna and Ellendale.

Circular Head Council - located in the far North-West of the state, Circular Head includes the communities of Stanley, Marrawah, Arthur River, Woolnorth, Temma and Smithton.

Clarence City Council - loacted on the Eastern Shore of the Derwent River, across the river from the City of Hobart in South-East Tasmania.

Derwent Valley Council - located in South Central Tasmania with growing rural townships.

Devonport City Council - located on the Mersey River on the North West Coast of Tasmania.

Dorset Council - situated in North-East Tasmania and inlcudes the town of Scottsdale.

Flinders Council - this municipality covers four groups of Bass Strait islands off the North-Eastern tip of Tasmania.

George Town Council - situated on the lower reaches of the Tamar Valley with most residents living in George Town and Low Head.

Glamorgan Spring Bay Council - located on the East Coast of Tasmania and includes the towns of Buckland, Orford, Maria Island, Triabunna, Swansea, Bicheno and Coles Bay.

Glenorchy City Council - located in South Central Tasmania.

Hobart City Council - situated between Mt Wellington and the Derwent Estuary.

Huon Valley Council - the southern most Council in Australia.

Kentish Council - the home of Cradle Mountain and the township of Sheffield.

King Island Council - at the western entrance to Bass Strait.

Kingborough Council - situated 10kms from Tasmania's capital this municipality includes the towns of Taroona, Kingston, Blackmans bay, Margate, Snug and Middleton.

Latrobe Council - includes the townships of Latrobe, Port Sorrell, Shearwater, Hawley, Wesley Vale and Sassafras.

Launceston City Council - Tasmania's largest Council in terms of revenue and population.

Meander Valley Council - located in Northern Tasmania and includes the towns of Deloraine, Westbury, Prospect Vale.

Northern Midlands - Known for the historic towns of Campbell Town, Cressy, Evandale, Longford, Perth and Ross.

Sorrell Council - includes the towns of Sorrell, Dunalley and Midway Point.

Southern Midlands -  A predominantly rural based economy of approximately 5500 people.

Tasman Council - located in South East Tasmania and cincludes the communities of Nubeena, White Beach, Port Arthur, Eaglehawk Neck and Murdanna.

Waratah-Wynyard Council - located on the states North-West Coast and includes the towns of Wynyard, Somerset, Boat Harbour, Sisters Beach, Yolla, Waratah and Corinna.

West Tamar Council - located in the Tamar Valley and includes the towns of Beaconsfield, Deviot, Legana, Greens Beach and Exeter.

Local Government Organisations

Local Government Association of Tasmania - represents the 29 councils that make up local government in Tasmania.

Cradle Coast Authority - a joint authority created to co-ordinate and drive economic development across the nine local government areas of North-West and Western Tasmania.

The Local Government Division - provides a link between State and Local Government

Youth Links

National Youth Week - official website for this annual event.

Student Exchange - information about studying overseas and about hosting an exchange student.

Foundation for Young Australians - an independent national grant-making organisation, funding and working in partnership with youth-led initiatives which aim to positively contribute to young people and their communities. 

Literacy & Numeracy Resources - resources for students, teachers, parents

Bullying - No Way - information for youth, schools and parents, discussion forums, resources etc

Tasmanian Youth Consultative Committee - TYCC is made up of up to 15 young people from all regions of Tasmania - 5 from each of the South, North and North-West - and from a variety of backgrounds. Any young person who is passionate about youth issues can nominate to become a member!  TYCC is a project of the Youth Network of Tasmania (YNOT) and the Office of Children and Youth Affairs (OYA). The committee is supported by a Project Officer, who works in the YNOT office. TYCC aims to represent young Tasmanians, to consult with our peers, and liaise with governments, communities and other agencies. TYCC is a voice for young people to identify and respond to the issues that are important to them.

Young People and the Arts Australia - the association representing and promoting arts organisations and artists whose work primarily focuses on engaging children and young people in the arts.  As the national peak body representing arts for, with and by young people, YPAA provides the crucial links between members, and with the arts sector, the wider community and government.

My Future - a career information service, the site is a joint initiative of the Australian, State and Territory governments.

Seek.com - quick job search, browse job ads, create a resume or post an advertisement for a job vacancy.

Sport & Recreation Links

Sport & Recreation Tasmania - A state government department with a strong presence on the West Coast.  Website provides information on grants, training opportunities, current projects and publications.

Web pages for beginner coaches and officials - contains information on planning, working with parents, conflict and templates for forms such as injury reports and medical history

Club Development Network - aimed at helping Australian sporting clubs, provides online checklists, an electronic library with resources on a wide range of topics and information on grants

Dimensions for Sporting Playing Areas - features dimensions for sport playing areas and can assist Councils, schools and clubs in marking out playing spaces and checking the height and width of goals etc

Get Moving Tasmania -  Get Moving Tasmania is a state-wide initiative that supports the development of a more physically active Tasmanian community. Get Moving Tasmania is an initiative of the State government.  Get Moving Tasmania aims to increase peoples levels of physical activity and promotes healthy lifestyles and the building of stronger communities.

Immunise Australia Program - information on immunisation, programs and guidelines

Mensline Australia -  Mensline Australia is a dedicated service for men with relationship and family concerns. When you feel like it's all getting too much, help is as close as the phone. The website offers counselling, information and referrals for all men, in all relationships and is staffed by trained professionals.  Mensline Australia is confidential, anonymous.  Mensline can also be reached 24/7 on telephone 1300 789 978 for the cost of a local call.
