Online Council Meetings

Those submitted after that time will be taken as questions without notice. A recording of the meeting will be available on our website in the days following the meeting.

Swimming Pools

West Coast Council manages and maintains three community swimming pools throughout the municipality. All are heated to a very comfortable 29 degrees Celsius.

Each pool is overseen by Council’s Facilities Officer, is managed by the Swimming Pool Coordinator and staffed using qualified Lifeguards and Pool Attendants.

Cold Weather Policy

The weather forecast will be monitored, with the trigger for changes to opening hours based on the Bureau of Meteorology afternoon (approx. 4.30pm) weather forecast for Queenstown, Rosebery and Zeehan.

Should the forecast be a maximum less than 16°C for Queenstown and Zeehan pools will not open for public recreational swimming. Forecasts will be monitored early each day to determine if there has been significant forecast change on the day.

Should the forecast be a maximum less than 18°C for Rosebery pool will not open for public recreational swimming. Forecasts will be monitored early each day to determine if there has been any significant forecast change on the day.

Pools will open for bookings and regular programs regardless of cold weather, in consultation with program coordinators.

Council will utilise various communication channels to ensure details regarding opening hours is relayed to the public.
