From February to June 2026 West Coast Council met with residents in Zeehan, Rosebery, Tullah and Queenstown to listen to what matters most locally. Talking points from the sessions are listed below. As community meetings regarding the waterfront development were already taking place during the same period, Strahan did not have a separate Community Conversation session.
Residents were invited to join Councillors and Council staff for informal Community Conversations. This was an opportunity for the community to:
- Share ideas
- Raise concerns
- Ask questions
- Talk about what matters most to you and your community
With no formal agenda, Council aimed for the Community Conversations to be relaxed, face‑to‑face discussions designed to help Council better understand local priorities. A summary of the talking points from the Community Conversation sessions is provided below.
At the conclusion of the scheduled Community Conversations, Council sought feedback from community, councillors and staff, seeking to understand what worked well, what could be improved, and what would encourage more people to take part in future Community Conversations. A summary of the survey feedback is available below. A report endorsed by Council at the August 2026 Council meeting outlined a proposed approach for the delivery of future Community Conversations, to be implemented following the October 2026 local government elections.
