West Coast volunteers make our community better by helping out and making positive changes. Everyone here can join in, do their part, and reach their goals.
Our volunteers are appreciated and supported, making our community stronger. By working together, we grow and transform, creating a place where everyone belongs and can succeed. If you want to learn new skills or offer your expertise, there are opportunities on the West Coast with community safety, recreational, sporting and cultural activities.
You can find organisations to volunteer in our community directory. You can also visit Volunteering Australia website for opportunities.
The West Coast Community Volunteering Strategy was developed in collaboration with community organisations, Volunteering Tasmania and the West Coast Council.
This strategy can be used by volunteer organisations and groups wishing to work together to support volunteer recruitment, retainment and recognition.
Volunteer Stories:
I’m a volunteer of 48 years for Queenstown Scouts including years as a youth member, 19 years for the Queenstown Lion’s Club, 13 years for The Unconformity Board, as well as many educational boards, I see the intrinsic value of our West Coast volunteering community every day.
Mayor Shane Pitt, proud volunteer Queenstown Scouts.
Norm has been volunteering for 6 years with CTST, driving vehicles to help West Coasters in need of transport get to their hospital and specialist visits across the State. Norm has some great stories to tell about his time with CTST, like when he transported a man who loved reciting Banjo Patterson, and he loves to have a chat with his passengers about just about anything they want! Norm is passionate about getting people the care they need, safely. He loves the relationships he has with regular users and enjoys not just the driving but also the company he can provide to his passengers.
Norm, passionate volunteer CTST.
