At a Special Council meeting on 11 August, Councillors considered an Organisational Review and associated report. Following discussion, the below points were approved by Council:
- the West Coast Organisational Review of June 2026 prepared by Barry Omundson of Local Partnerships was noted, with Council thank Barry for the comprehensive report
- Eight (8) Strategic Recommendations from the West Coast Organisational Review were adopted
- Two Councillors will be appointed as members of the Organisational Renewal Oversight Group, with the Mayor to act as Chairperson. The two Councillors will be determined at the August 25th Council meeting.
- the Terms of Reference for the Organisational Oversight Group were adopted, with the Terms of Reference to be amended to include two West Coast Council non leadership employees in the group membership. The employees will be elected by their peers and consist of one employee based in the Administration Office and one employee based in the outside Operational depots.
- Barry Omundson (Local Partnerships) was appointed as the Independent Organisational Sustainability Advisor
- the Terms of Reference for the General Manager’s Performance and Review Committee will be developed for consideration by Council at the August 25th Council Meeting.
