Annual Plan & Budget

A message from the Mayor & General Manager

The 2026–2027 Annual Plan outlines Council’s priorities for the year ahead as we continue to deliver on the aspirations of the West Coast Community Plan 2035 (WCCP2035).

In 2026–2027, Council will continue to invest in the facilities, services and infrastructure and work to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our waste services.

Good governance and community engagement continue to underpin all that we do. In 2026–2027, Council will hold Community Conversations across the region and undertake a review of key policies and strategic documents, including the Corporate Plan and Long Term Financial Plan.

This Annual Plan represents our ongoing commitment to working collaboratively with our community, stakeholders and partners to deliver positive outcomes for the West Coast. We thank our residents, businesses, volunteers and community organisations for their continued support and contribution to our region.

We look forward to another year of progress, partnership and shared achievement.

FAQs

The annual plan is a one-year plan that guides our actions and priorities. It is a requirement of the Local Government Act 1993 (Tas) for each council to develop and adopt an annual plan.

This plan supports our long-term goals and shows our commitment to the community, outlining what we aim to achieve this year.

It is a collaborative effort to develop the annual plan, with the public invited to submit ideas for inclusion each year, and Councillors and staff working together to finalise the plan.

The annual plan closely aligns with the focus areas developed as part of the West Coast 2035 Community Plan, created by Council and the community.

The budget outlines the projected income and expenses for the upcoming financial year, as required by the Local Government Act.

It acts as a financial plan, guiding what we can deliver based on the revenue we expect to receive.

While unforeseen costs may arise, this plan allows us to monitor and assess our financial performance throughout the year.
