Liz Hamer

Councillor

Elizabeth (Liz) Hamer is a proud 8th generation West Coaster whose family dates back to the original houn piners of Port Davey, who staunchly endured adversity to build and develop the west coast that we, know and love today.

Those characteristics and tenacity shown by her predecessors remain strong in Liz’s own beliefs and principals that she invokes within her personal life and that of elected councillor.

Liz is a strong family-oriented person and proud grandmother, who has served her country and community for the majority of her adult life, including service in the Australian regular army, various volunteer positions within the Tasmanian Fire Service (holding high ranking leadership roles and state delegate for the VFBA) and Tasmanian Ambulance Service. Liz remains an active member of the Tasmanian RSL, is a member of the Australian Local Government Women’s Association and an Honorary member of the Japanese freedom riding club.

Liz’s dedication to family, animals and community is unconditional, having undertaken studies in Fire Behavioural Science, Firefighting, Animal Husbandry, Sheepdog Training and Horse Trainer. Liz’s ongoing commitment towards the preservation and positive development of our community, reinforcees her passion and focus as a proud resident and elected representative of the west coast.

Liz’s driving force is knowledge is power and she is a proud supporter of education and learning.

Liz thanks the community for electing her to the position as councillor.
