Playgrounds

West Coast Council is responsible for the operation and ongoing maintenance of a diverse network of playgrounds and public parks throughout the municipality. These community spaces play a vital role in supporting active lifestyles, social interaction, and the wellbeing of residents and visitors.

Over the past several years, Council has delivered a program of significant improvements to a number of parks and playgrounds, with several sites now fully redeveloped and others undergoing major upgrades. These works have included the installation of new play equipment, improved landscaping, enhanced accessibility features, and the provision of supporting amenities to ensure the facilities remain safe, inclusive, and welcoming for all age groups.

Council recognises the importance of providing high-quality public open spaces and remains committed to a long-term program of renewal and enhancement. Future upgrades will continue to be guided by community needs, asset management planning, and the availability of external grant funding. As additional resources are secured, Council will progressively expand and upgrade its parks network to ensure it continues to meet the expectations of the community both now and into the future.

Booking Parks & Open Spaces

Council’s parks and reserves, including BBQ areas, are public spaces available to all and are not reserved exclusively for private events. However, through our booking process, we can arrange for our team to ensure the area is well-prepared—lawns mowed, bins emptied, and general upkeep completed—prior to your event. We can also inform other visitors about existing plans for the space.
