Are you interested in community engagement and consultation and being part of improving the well-being of others on the West Coast?? There is an opportunity to develop community members to become community facilitators.
As a community facilitator you will engage with people you know to make sure their views about the health needs on the West Coast are heard and are included in the decision-making process. The West Coast Council, guided by the Liveable Communities Advisory Committee (LCAC) is undertaking a Community Research Partnership Program to identify the health priorities of our community and ways in which we can best respond to them.
Council and the LCAC is working in partnership with Tasmanian Collaboration for Health Improvement (TCHI), Health Consumers Tasmania and Croakey (social journalism for Health service). The aim of this project is to hear from the local community to understand the main health needs for those living on the West Coast.
An important part of the project is to create a team of local Community Facilitators from a range of experiences and community networks to engage with the community, gather information and input into the service delivery needs of your local groups. We want to hear the views from local groups. For this to work, we need local community members to talk to local groups in a place that is comfortable for everyone involved. This is about locals talking with locals and then telling us.
Community Facilitators will receive training and facilitate community conversations from across the Townships which make up the West Coast.
If you believe you would be able to contribute and would like more information, please contact the West Coast Council at wcc@westcoast.tas.gov.au, call 03 6471 4720 or pop into Council’s reception 11 Sticht Street Queenstown to register your interest.
