West Coast Council Mayor Shane Pitt is thrilled to announce that Scott Riley has been appointed the next General Manager. Mr Riley brings more than 30 years’ experience in the local government sector to the role. His most recent appointments include Director Planning and Environmental Services at Southern Downs Regional Council in Queensland and General Manger at the Circular Head Council in North West Tasmania
Mayor Pitt said Mr Riley would be a great addition to the council and the West Coast community. “Mr Riley has a tremendous background in local government leader, and I’m thrilled that he is joining us,” Mayor Pitt said. “He has been a regular visitor to the West Coast, and is a huge fan of our region, its natural beauty and our people.
“Having worked for a neighbouring council, he has a really strong understanding of the critical role that local government plays in a regional community like ours. “He brings great experience in leadership, strategic planning, community relationships, commercial undertakings, financial management and infrastructure management.”
Mr Riley moved to the West Coast prior to commencing in the General Manager position on February 3.
Mayor Pitt thanked outgoing Interim General Manager Barry Omundson.
“Mr Omundson provided council with a steady hand while we finalised Mr Riley’s appointment, and I’m very grateful for his experience and expertise,” Mayor Pitt said.
