MAYOR’S SUMMARY NOVEMBER 2022

The Annual General Meeting and Ordinary Meetings of Council was held on Tuesday 13 December 2022 in Queenstown. This is our last meeting for 2022.

The meeting/s were available to view via LIVE Stream. The meeting/s was open to the public attendance. There were no members for the public in attendance. All Councillors attended at the meeting/s.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Council adopted the Annual Report 2021-2022. There were no submissions received from members of the public for Council to consider.

PUBLIC QUESTION TIME

There were no members of the community in attendance during public question time.

There was a late question email submission to Council, however Council chose not to accept the question for discussion as it did not contain details required under the Act.

COUNCILLOR RAISED ISSUES                            

There were no Councillor raised issues put forward for consideration.

GENERAL MANAGER’S REPORTS

It was pleasing to see no vandalism once again in the report. The state as a whole is having issues with vandalism at present. It is good to see that the West Coast is doing well in this area. I believe that camera installation in certain areas have assisted with this, however the General Manager did advise that there has been some recent vandalism which will be presented to Council in the next Council agenda.

REQUEST FOR FUNDING MT BLACK MEN'S SHED

Council approved $2000 under the innovation grant to the Mt Black Men’s Shed for the Rosebery Beatification Project. Council will undertake an MOU with the group before assisting with funding.

COUNCIL LAND QUEENSTOWN EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

Council approved for Mr. Galvin and his group as the preferred proponent to utilise the land next to the old school, located on the corner of Bowes and Cutten Streets, Queenstown, for the purpose of a community led and driven local garden, and authorise the General Manager to enter into an MOU or Lease (subject to further approval) for that purpose.

NAIDOC SCHOOL INITIATIVE

Council provided cash support to the value of $450.00 for the NAIDOC Week School Initiatives.
