MAYOR’S SUMMARY MAY 2023

The Ordinary Meetings of Council was held on Tuesday 23 May 2023 in Queenstown.

The meeting was made available to view via LIVE Stream. The meeting was open to public attendance. There were three members of the public in attendance.

Councilor Newman was absent and had submitted an apology.

Respond to Mr Scott explaining reason for the set fees and what services they support at the Macquarie Heads Campground, including that Council, as per the advice from the Economic Regulator, also has an obligation and must be mindful that it is not directly competing with private business. Recommendation

That Council:

Note the progress of the Reflect RAP and endorse to commitments outlined.

REPORT - POLICY REVIEW - POLICY DEVELOPMENT

Recommendation

That Council:

A. Approve and adopt policy WCC.015 Policy Development Review

or

B. Refer to Council Workshop for further review.

That Council:

A. Adopt the WCC.017 Financial In-Kind Assistance Policy with current changes.

REPORT – POLICY DEVELOPMENT - PRIVACY POLICY

Recommendation

That Council:

Adopt the newly created Privacy Policy that will mitigate the risk of unauthorised access, use and disclosure of personal information.

COUNCIL DETERMINED THE BELOW IN RESPECT TO COUNCIL OWNED PROPERTIES:

Queenstown Senior Citizens Building

Council determined via an Expression of Interest process, the successful community group, to lease the Queenstown Senior Citizen Building.

Zeehan Clubrooms & Rugby Oval

Council approved an unsolicited proposal for a lease of the Zeehan Football Clubrooms and Zeehan Rugy Oval to a community-based group.

West Strahan Beach (Picnic Area)

Council approved a lease with the Mt Lyell Strahan Picnic Committee, for the West Strahan Beach Picnic Area.

35 Cutten Street Queenstown

Council approved the lease for 35 Cutten Street Queenstown to the current tenant.

Part of Queenstown Airport

Council approved a (partial) lease with Earth’s Black Box Ltd, for a small area located at the Queenstown Airport.

Union Steamship Building Strahan

Council approved the General Manager to progress negotiations following an Expression of Interest, for the Union Steamship Building, Strahan.

9-11 Philip Street Queenstown

Council approved a lease with the SES, for use of the storage yard located at 9-11 Philip Street Queenstown.
