I can advise that this meeting was open to the public, we had one person in attendance in the public gallery.
PUBLIC QUESTION TIME
Mr Ian Wotherspoon of Granville Harbour asked Council to consider the construction of toilets in Granville Harbour, highlighting the need by presenting the Mayor with a petition of 105 signatures, 81 of the signatures belonging to visitors to Granville Harbour who has visited the previous weekend and indicated they would utilise the facilities if available.
QUESTION WITHOUT NOTICE
Deputy Mayor Pitt asked why the West Coast Spirit Awards were not announced on the day?
Council was advised a press release was issued to our media contacts. It was provided to the local paper (the Advocate) and 7XS. The Advocate waited to include the article with photos of the Mt Lyell Strahan Picnic. Due to the Mayor being unable to attend the Mt Lyell Strahan Picnic, the Mayor announced the recipients on the ABC radio breakfast show on the 26 January and it was shared via West Coast Council social media on the 27 January. The Mayor also spoke to both the recipients prior to public announcements.

REPORTS SUBMITTED TO COUNCIL
Item # | Open Session – Decision Item | Motion Outcome |
13/21 | Granville Harbour Toilet Facility Proposal Moved Cr Vickers/ Seconded Cr Gerrity
Council agreed that further investigation for a suitable site for a toilet location was required, saying it will be difficult to get planning permission for the area proposed near the pump station, also saying the waste transfer area was not suitable. It was agreed to engage further with Parks and Wildlife and to investigate an area that is frequently used for camping just over the cattle grid. It was recognised that from a public health perspective, toilets are necessary. | Carried Unanimously |
14/21 | Macquarie Heads Campground Fees & Conditions Moved Cr Gerrity/ Seconded Cr Graham
Council endorsed the approach for the new camp sites and sites in the old area that are currently vacant or become vacant. These sites are to lease for short term periods (a caravan park arrangement) ensuring that the sites cannot be considered permanent by the lease. Fees & charges will be set at $20 p/night p/site or $1200 p/year p/site for the current financial year. Noting Council will review pricing for the 2021/2022 financial year as part of the annual budget process. | Carried Unanimously |
16/21 | Development Application 13 Jones Street Strahan Moved Cr Pitt/ Seconded Cr Gerrity
Council approved the D/A as per the report and conditions listed. | Carried Unanimously |
