Mayors Update -October Council Meeting 2020

Our most recent Council Meeting was held on 27 October 2020 in Queenstown with the meeting streamed LIVE to the public and with Councillors attending the meeting in person. Councillor Styles and Councillor Gerrity were apologies for the meeting.

I can advise that this meeting was open to the public, but we had no people in attendance in the public gallery.

PUBLIC QUESTION TIME

There were two letters received from the public for public question time.

The first letter was from a Macquarie Heads site holder, regarding the phone tower located at Macquarie Heads at the caretaker’s residence. There were questions regarding the equipment installed and the lack of reception coverage for other site holders. The General Manager took the question on notice and the response will be included in our next meeting.

The second letter was from a Strahan resident regarding the Strahan Primary School and fees charged to the school for the use of the oval for the schools’ athletics carnival. The General Manager took the question on notice and the response will be included in our next meeting.

CORRESPONDENCE

There was a variety of correspondence presented to council at the meeting. Letter were sent to the West Coast Council and the Premiers Economic & Social Recovery Advisory Committee, regarding proposals to stimulate industry and employment on the West Coast. The General Manager will write to the Premiers Economic & Social Recovery Advisory Committee in support of these proposals.
