West Coast Spirit Award Recipients 2023

The West Coast Council is pleased to announce that the recipients of the 2023 Australia Day West Coast Spirit Awards are Vicki Knowles of Strahan and the Queenstown Crows Football Club.

The successful recipients are all recognized as valuable community members who give their time willingly to assist others.

Vicki has been a Volunteer Ambulance Officer for over 22 years, the past 10 years of that in Strahan. She has been an important and supportive presence to mentor and support the new volunteers and has achieved the highest possible qualification for an ambulance volunteer, regularly undertaking extra training to best serve her community. She is very active within her community, and qualified as a Justice of the Peace when the need in the community was made apparent.

The Queenstown Crows Football Club was awarded the West Coast Sprit Award in light of the successes the club has had in recent years, and the progressive work they have been achieving in the junior development space and also within the broader community.

Mayor Pitt says “Council is proud to recognize the valuable contribution the recipients provide to our community. These awards assist to highlight the importance of volunteering and draws attention to just how valuable volunteers are to small rural communities like the West Coast. I offer my congratulations to this year’s recipients and thank them for their continued efforts.”
