Mayor’s Message 10 April 2018

Last week I announced the appointment of Deloitte Access Economics to undertake the Strahan Airport Feasibility Study.

A study into the feasibility of operations at the Strahan Airport was highlighted by the West Coast community during the creation of the West Coast Community Plan 2025, with a commitment to create a business case for the development of the facility as a potential visitor and freight gateway to the region. The project is funded by West Coast Council, with contributions from the State Government, TasPorts, RACT Strahan Village and other key stakeholders. I look forward to seeing the results of this important study.

I would like to encourage West Coast residents to attend one of 10 exhibition events to showcase concepts for a new West Coast brand. Council has been working with consultants For The People since February to consult with the community and is now seeking your feedback. Exhibitions will be held across the West Coast this week, with the community encouraged to attend and provide feedback during live presentations or throughout the day at each venue. For more details please see Council’s Facebook page, website or contact 6471 4700.

Please note that there will be some changes to the wheelie bin kerbside collection services in Rosebery and Tullah during Targa.  The wheelie bins in Rosebery and Tullah will not be collected on Thursday April 19, they will be collected on Friday April 20.  Residents are advised to have their bins out before 7am to ensure collection.
