It has been pleasing to hear that many people attended the unveiling of concepts for the West Coast Brand across the community last week.
Thanks to all those who attended as for this rebranding to work there must be full community buy-in. This is not a Council brand, but one for the whole region. Likewise, the brand will not just be used in the tourism industry but will be able to be implemented across the community, for businesses, investors, community groups etc. The consultants will now consider your feedback to finalise a brand and develop a tool kit for its use.
Please be aware that Telstra and NBNco are visiting the West Coast this week to help answer your questions and make sure you’re up to speed on the NBN and what it means for what it means for future economic development, jobs, the economy, health, education and more. Telstra will also be able to assist you with any of your other telecommunications needs, so feel free to have a chat with them while they are here. Today they will be in Main St, Zeehan (outside Howards Park) from 9am - 5pm, tomorrow (Wednesday 18 April) on Lynch St, Strahan between 9am and 5pm and on Thursday (19 April) on Stitch St, Queenstown between 9am - 5pm.
I recently attended the unveiling of the rebuilt and refurbished Carriage 11 at the West Coast Wilderness Railway. This is the first of a new generation of carriages built at Carswell Park and while retaining the specifications of the original carriages, this rebuild features the latest technology in generators, upgraded window treatments and USB charging points. Some huge congratulations to the staff and contractors involved in this rebuild and refurbishment, which took nine months and about 2300 hours of labour to complete. It will be a welcome addition to the service.
