Council is pleased to be hosting an event next week as part of National Volunteers Week to recognise the valuable contribution volunteers make to the West Coast.
So much of what happens on the West Coast is due to the role of volunteers and it will be great to gather as many as possible together next Tuesday. All West Coast volunteers, regardless of hours given or type of volunteering, are invited to the event which will include a light supper and opportunity to share volunteering stories. Anyone interested in attending can RSVP to Council by calling 64 714 710.
Residents wanting to take advantage of 2017 kerbside collection need to make sure their address and items for collection are registered with Council by this Friday. A large range of rubbish is able to be collected as part of the program – contact Council for more information and to register.
We have received positive feedback ahead of the Destination West Coast event to be held this Sunday. Along with Graham Budd from New Zealand, Luke Martin from the Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania, will also be presenting at the event.
Everyone involved in the West Coast tourism industry is encouraged to attend and to also complete a short survey that will provide additional insight into our tourism industry and the setting of foundations for its future.
The survey can be completed online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/destinationwestcoast. I am looking forward to the event and the actions that will be developed – in particular I am interested to hear how the West Coast can learn from the experiences of New Zealand tourism. More information about the event, or to RSVP, is available by contacting Council’s Economic Development, Tourism & Events Coordinator Simon Lee.
