A reminder that Council is seeking your ideas for the 2018-2019 budget. Council welcomes submissions that will maintain or improve community assets and benefit the community, while also keeping a balanced budget.
This is a great way for members of the public to have their say on their priorities. You can make a submission to the budget process by visiting Council’s website, offices or agencies. Submissions close on Monday 9 April.
I have been made aware that a Council wheelie bin was set on fire in Strahan last month. Not only was this a dangerous act that could have seen further damage to nearby buildings and other Council assets, it is also a waste of time and resources. The cost of replacing the bin and steel surround is about $1200 that could be better spent elsewhere. Please report any suspicious activity such as this to Tasmania Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Lastly, I would like to send a message to everyone for a safe and happy Easter break. This is a great time to catch up with family and friends, but as always there will be more people on the roads, so please take care and drive to the conditions. Council’s office will close at 5pm on Thursday (29 March) and reopen on Wednesday 4 April at 8.30am. There will be no changes to rubbish collection over the Easter break. The West Coast Visitor Information Centre will be closed on Good Friday (30 March), but will be open from 10am until 6.30pm on Saturday 31 March and from 10am until 6pm through the rest of the Easter break.
