Council is seeking feedback regarding its community funding streams, with a survey sent to West Coast community organisations recently to gather information about the effectiveness of the processes.

Community groups are asked to check their emails and complete the survey online.  Those who may not have received the email, or who need to complete the survey in hard copy, can contact Council’s Community Development and Events Coordinator for assistance.

Minister Rene Hidding has been in contact regarding the condition of Henty Road, with maintenance works scheduled to start when weather permits.  Whilst this is a good outcome, advice I’ve received suggests reconstruction of the road is the best long term option given the amount of traffic it receives, with the road not built to withstand the heavy trucks that now regularly travel the road. 

Now to another road which is a talking point - Lynchford Road.  Council has exhausted all avenues for external funding with no success, the aim of our contact with various stakeholders and levels of government was to secure some funding and work in partnership to repair this important road.  Council will continue to complete repairs as much as possible before considering funding for more detailed works in the 2018-2019 Council budget.  A reminder to drive to the road conditions.

November marks the start of a busy few months on the West Coast, with major events scheduled regularly.  We have the Zeehan Gem and Mineral Fair this weekend in Zeehan, Christmas parades in December, Strahan Picnic in January, Rosebery Festival in February and a muster in March.  Scheduling and promotion of events is important to ensure maximum participation.  For assistance contact Council’s Community Development & Events Coordinator.
