Heroes don’t need to wear a cape. On the West Coast of Tasmania they are ordinary people doing extraordinary things, often quietly and without much fanfare.
They are West Coast Tough. Working tirelessly to serve our communities, promoting our way of life and quietly helping others. There is no expectation of reward for their efforts.
In recognition of those who have made an outstanding contribution to the West Coast community, the West Coast Council is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2019 Australia Day West Coast Spirit Awards.
Recipients will be announced on Australia Day, 26 January 2019.
Nominees can come from all walks of life and may include, but are not limited to, individuals, civic organisations or events that enhance the community life of the West Coast and encourage us all to do our part in making a better Australia.
“Australia Day is the perfect time to acknowledge the spirit of special West Coasters,” West Coast Mayor Phil Vickers said.
“Through the West Coast Spirit Award West Coast Council has an opportunity to recognise those who truly make our communities a better place.”
Official nomination forms are available here.
Nominations close on Monday 7 January 2019.
