Individuals with key West Coast interests and economic development and business experience are invited to submit an expression of interest to join the West Coast Council Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC).
The Committee will assist Council in the development and implementation of potential projects along with other opportunities and priorities that are likely to emerge for the region. The EDAC will discuss, research, develop, recommend and assist Council to drive forward economic development initiatives.
Council’s Economic Development, Tourism & Events Coordinator will act as the EDAC secretariat and two Councillors (in addition to the Mayor and Deputy Mayor) will be nominated to sit on the EDAC, with Council to liaise with the State Government regarding appropriate representation also.
It is expected that members of the EDAC would have expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Economic development at a local or regional level; or
- Business and/or industry experience and knowledge in sectors relevant to the West Coast including tourism, mining, aquaculture, education and training, finance and retail; and
- Successful business and/or management experience.
Creation of the committee brings the West Coast a step closer to implementing further outcomes from the West Coast Community Plan 2025.
