A major milestone – practical completion at the new Strahan Gym & Multi-Purpose Centre has been achieved!
Civil works in the car park will finish off the project, allowing an occupancy permit to be obtained.
During the construction of the new Strahan Gym & Multi-Purpose Centre there has still been some minimal use of the existing Strahan Rec Hall. Unfortunately, an electrical fault occurred this week in the Rec Hall.
As the Rec Hall is without lighting throughout the building, creating a safety hazard, Council has taken steps to ensure no further public use of the facility occurs.
Anyone with existing bookings has been advised by Council.
Council will not be repairing the electrical faults as it was always the intention to decommission the Rec Hall after construction of the new Strahan Gym & Multi-Purpose Centre was completed.
It is expected the new Strahan Gym & Multi-Purpose Centre will be completed at the end of June – we’ll keep the community updated around an opening date.
