August 2025

Council is excited to finally be able to update the community – construction drawings are being finalised, after which quotations for building works will be requested.

Following a request from Councillors, the possibility of including a new public toilet outside the stadium is also being investigated.

2021

In 2021 West Coast Council, with the support of Queenstown Junior Basketball Association, received funding through the Tasmanian Government Improving the Playing Field Program to upgrade the Queenstown Sports Stadium.

Whilst the installation of roof-mounted basketball backboard systems that FIBA regulations has been completed, there have been significant delays in commencing other aspects of the project.

Works to bring the facility to meet the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) include:

  • Replacement of the front entry doors with compliant hardware
  • A compliant entry ramp with handrails
  • Refurbishment of existing toilets, including DDA compliant toilets

The entry driveway and basketball court will also be resurfaced to improve safety.
