Update February 2025:

Work to complete repairs to the Zeehan Swimming Pool have been progressing well:

  • the deep end concrete floor has stablised and reinforced
  • new pipework has been pressure tested
  • concrete will be poured in the coming days
  • the concrete pour was successful, allowing the new vinyl liner to be installed

Contractors will now commence works in the plant room.

Contractors are working towards a completion date for the pool of early March. When the new changerooms have been completed and inspected by the building surveyor the pool will then be operational.

Council would like to thank the community for their patience – we acknowledge this project has taken far longer than desired to complete, with multiple delays along the way.  We look forward to welcoming community members back when we reopen.

The Zeehan Swimming Pool was closed in 2023 due to the condition of infrastructure making the facility unable to be operated. In September 2023 the West Coast Council approved a capital budget of $600,000 to repair the Zeehan swimming pool.

Council engaged Hydrilla, a specialist swimming pool design company to prepare repair and upgrade specification documents which will transform the pool into a modern facility, giving the pool an expected life of at least another 20 years.

The tender to complete the works will now be advertised.

In October 2023 Council approved and awarded the tender to undertake works at the pool.

Two tender submissions were received, they were both reviewed by Council staff with the preferred company awarded the contract to undertake the works.

By undertaking these works the swimming pool will again be a valuable community asset for many years to come.

The swimming pool will be completely upgraded and will include a disability hoist for access to those patrons who may have mobility issues.
