July 2025 – Howard’s Park has reopened!
As part of the redevelopment, Council engaged directly with the community – visiting schools and having site meetings. Concept designs were completed and released in March 2023 with the community able to provide comments to help inform Council’s decision-making regarding the project.
Access to the public toilets and BBQs will remain for as long as possible.

*please note that the main piece of play equipment has changed from that shown in the video, with a custom one-off structure with a mining theme now to be used – see concept photo above.
Redevelopment of the park is aligned with the West Coast Community Plan 2025, Council’s Corporate Plan and the West Coast Sport and Recreation Plan.
