Trial of Kerbside Bin Latches Now Available
The Cradle Coast Waste Management Group is trialling kerbside bin latches to help reduce litter caused when recycling bin lids are blown open during windy weather.
Residents can collect a free bin latch from the West Coast Council Office. If you live outside Queenstown, please contact the office and we will arrange delivery to your area.
As part of the trial, participants are required to:
- Complete a short online registration form; and
- Participate in a user survey at a later date.
To ensure the latch works correctly, please follow the bin latch installation guide, available below, when fitting it to your recycling bin.
By taking part in the trial, you’ll be helping to assess whether bin latches are an effective solution for reducing wind-blown litter across our community.
