I’m Shane Pitt, West Coast Mayor and we’re thrilled that you’ve made the move to join our vibrant community!
The West Coast is a proud region and one that enjoys a lifestyle surrounded by our unique natural heritage where people work together for the benefit of residents, businesses and visitors.
We encourage new property owners and new residents to become involved in our
communities, where the people are seen as the strength of the region.
It is important to us that you feel welcome and comfortable in your new home. Our towns have generations of history and provide a variety of activities and services to all age groups.
Council staff have a great knowledge of our region and are there to help you with any queries you might have.
You’ll notice the immense pride and respect our staff have for the work they do and the community they serve – which I’m sure will help you settle in.
I encourage those new to the area to visit the West Coast Visitor Information Centre and its satellite information centres the West Coast Heritage Centre in Zeehan
and the Galley Museum in Queenstown.
All three centres are great places to meet locals who have a wealth of knowledge and are the perfect ambassadors for showcasing this region and providing local tips and information to help you feel at home – as well as give you great ideas of places to visit.
We also have many not for profit organisations and sporting clubs, always going above and beyond to contribute to the community and looking for volunteers.
