West Coast Council has a landfill cell with new infrastructure and wetlands located along Henty Main Road near Zeehan. The landfill is open:
- Monday – Wednesday: 8:00am – 3:00pm
- Friday – Saturday: 8:00am – 3:00pm
The Landfill is closed Thursdays, Sundays, Public Holidays and during total fire bans, unless otherwise advertised.
Anyone wishing to access the landfill must complete and submit the Landfill Disposal Form and contact Council’s Infrastructure & Operations Department. This includes commercial operators and residents wanting to dispose of large amounts of waste, hazardous waste and asbestos. These materials should not be disposed of at waste transfer stations.
In 2024 the Zeehan Landfill and Wetlands Project received a Local Government Association of Tasmania Award for Excellence, receiving a highly commended award under the Showcasing Innovation category.
