Mayor's Message 12 April 2016

ANZAC Day is approaching, it seems to have come round quickly. This year is 100 years since the offensives on the western front WW1 and 50 years since the battle of Long Tan during the Vietnam War. Services will be held in West Coast towns and residents and visitors are encouraged to attend to pay respect.

Whilst it might appear our push for better NBN services has gone quiet a lot has been happening behind the scenes and the Council is working with TasICT to have a meeting of all stakeholders to discuss all the options which may be available to provide a better than satellite solution. Likewise, our Federal member Brett Whiteley has requested NBN co to undertake high level and detailed engineering and financial investigations with a view to holding a meeting the first week in May.

Council was pleased to host the team of visiting medical students last week, this has become somewhat a tradition and the Council looks forward to being able to highlight West Coast health issues with them.

Council will be working with Hydro Tasmania in the near future to roll out a community engagement program on the process of cloud seeding. It will be a great opportunity for those interested to gain a full understanding of the science involved.

Young Zeehan Axeman Riley Sheehan returned from the Sydney Royal Easter show with a big smile on his face having had success in a number of events well done Riley.
