Emergency Services & Volunteering

Emergency Services on the West Coast has a strong volunteer history, with new members always welcome.  Community members are encouraged to contact the groups below to discuss how to become involved.

West Coast Ambulance Service

The Tasmanian Ambulance Service runs five volunteer units across the West Coast. These volunteer units are coordinated and trained by the paramedics who are stationed at Queensetown and Zeehan.  These officers operate on an 11-hour day shift followed by a 13 hour on call, 4 days on, 4 days off roster.

Ambulance Tasmania Volunteers come from all walks of life and do not require any prior knowledge or skills.  Rostering is flexible and uniforms are supplied.  All that is required is an average fitness for your age and a willingness to assist other members of the community in need.

Like all communities in Tasmania the West Coast is experiencing a continuing difficulty in recruiting and retaining volunteers.  Should you be interested in becoming a volunteer in any of the West Coast towns, please contact Ambulance Tasmania on telephone 6434 6964.
