As of 30th March, Council offices are closed to the general public. Although we are no longer doing face to face we can still assist you on phone, email, by post or if you drop a letter in our new post box outside the Queenstown office.

Online Council Meetings

You can access the live stream of the Council Meeting taking place Tuesday 23 June 2020, 5:00pm here:

All questions from the public should be submitted to the General Manager or a Councillor (to raise on your behalf) up to 7 days prior to the meeting. Those submitted after that time will be taken as questions without notice. A recording of the meeting will be available on our website in the days following the meeting.

West Coast Brand Takes Home Top Design Awards!

The West Coast brand has been awarded several top spots across the AGDA Australian Design Awards and Tasmania’s Diemen Awards over the weekend.

The West Coast brand has been awarded several top spots across the AGDA Australian Design Awards and Tasmania’s Diemen Awards over the weekend, following the regional brand identity development and community consultation that took place in 2018/19.

Awarded the highest level of award at AGDA, the brand identity by agency For The People received a Pinnacle, along with two judges choice, ten distinctions and a merit for all aspects of the project, from Logos and Trademarks, Photography, Typography, Illustration, Typeface, Print, Brand Expression, Technological Innovation, and Writing for Design. Digital agency Sons & Co were also awarded a Pinnacle in the digital category for the new tourism website:

The AGDA Design Awards recognise the best work in Australia across a wide range of disciplines every year and are the main awards program for design in Australia. Judges this year included, Annette Harcus (Founder at Harcus Design, Sydney), Andrew Hoyne (Principal at Hoyne, Sydney), Prue Jones (Design and Creative Director at Fjord, Melbourne), Mark Braddock, Founder at Block, Perth). Tasmania’s Diemen Awards for 2019, honoured this year’s best work on the same night. Recognising excellence in the design industry across Design, Digital, Advertising and Print. The West Coast Identity was winner in the Brand Identity category, and placed as a finalist in four other categories.

West Coast Mayor, Phil Vickers said, “It’s exciting to see not only Tasmania, but the broader market recognising and embracing the West Coast brand identity.” “It’s been incredible to watch the community embrace this project and really own all we love about the West Coast. We’re seeing everyone from individual businesses to local schools jumping on board. These awards are a celebration of that spirit.”
