West Coasters Recognised on Australia Day

The West Coast Council is pleased to announce that the recipients of the 2021 Australia Day West Coast Spirit Awards are Jack & Bronwyn Edwards of Queenstown and Vicki McKenzie of Zeehan.

The successful recipients are all recognized as valuable community members who give their time willingly to assist others.

Jack & Bronwyn are closely involved with St Martins church in Queenstown where they have worked to provide food distribution to those in need and also assist others by providing pastoral care and mentoring when required.

Vicki has served for many years a Volunteer Ambulance Officer based in Zeehan. In this capacity Vicki’s service is not only to Zeehan to the needs of the whole West Coast municipality. Vicki also assists with being a community car driver, transporting people around the region and to the North West Coast for various appointments.

Mayor Vickers says “Council is proud to recognize the valuable contribution the recipients provide to our community. These awards assist to highlight the importance of volunteering and draws attention to just how valuable volunteers are to small rural communities like the West Coast. I offer my congratulations to this year’s recipients and thank them for their continued efforts.”
