Thank you to everyone who came along to the public meetings about the future of our swimming pools last week.

The meetings were facilitated by independent consultants as part of the creation of the West Coast Aquatic Facilities Strategy.  If you weren’t able to make a meeting there’s still time to have your say – a survey is available online (or hard copies from Council and agencies) and ideas can be submitted direct to the consultants.  Surveys and submissions must be received by July 6.

The new financial year is only days away – a timely reminder to residents and ratepayers that dogs need to be registered, food business licences completed and, for ratepayers, rates notices will be arriving soon.  People with any queries about what payments are required, or to get a head start with rates payments, should call or visit the Council office.

The Strahan Wharf remediation is progressing well.  This multi-million dollar project is quite an undertaking and TasPorts are to be commended for their commitment to improving what is a key location on the West Coast.  Residents and visitors to Strahan will see that one lane of the Esplanade is currently closed, this will allow TasPorts to commence the next stage of works whilst ensuring the area remains open, accessible and safe for everyone.  For more details on the project, visit the TasPorts website.

The frosty mornings we’ve experienced the last few days is a good indication that winter is coming.  The frosts have already created some icy conditions on our roads, with heavy fog reducing visibility also.  I urge everyone to drive to the conditions and plan your trip accordingly – allowing plenty of time to reach your destination.
