The first of twelve community engagement sessions for the West Coast kicks off this weekend at Granville Harbour and Trial Harbour

The extensive community engagement strategy forms part of the West Coast Community Plan 2025 project.

“With seven community workshops and information stands in CBD areas around the West Coast this project gives all West Coasters the opportunity to have their say on how our region should look in ten years”, Mayor Phil Vickers said.

Summits in the targeted key areas of Education and Training, Health, Business, Tourism and Youth, will also be held with key stakeholders throughout May and June.

A new website, www.westcoast2025.com.au, was launched on 13^th April, where surveys can be completed online by both residents and visitors to the region.  Registrations to attend the community workshops can also be completed via the website.  Copies of the survey will be delivered to every West Coast household in the coming weeks.

“Over 350 surveys have already been completed online, even before the first community meeting, which is just fantastic and a real indication that the West Coast is ready for this project and ready to work together to build a positive, sustainable future,” Mayor Vickers said.

West Coast Council will analyse the data collected to create a community plan that will provide a solid framework for Council’s strategic direction whilst also providing a guide for other stakeholders looking to implement plans on the West Coast over the next decade.

The first community workshop will be held at 10.30am this Saturday, 2^nd May in Shane Dunstan’s Shed at Granville Harbour.  This will be followed by a workshop for Trial Harbour residents on Saturday afternoon from 2pm at the Community Shed.
