Shane Pitt

Shane was first elected as a Councillor in 2009, elected Deputy Mayor 2014, and Mayor 2021 he says he is "very passionate about the West Coast having lived here my entire life, I see the value of what we can offer the rest of the world."

Shane is a born and bred West Coaster, residing in Queenstown, married with two children, he attended St Joseph’s Catholic School, Murray High School and did Trade Training at West Coast Community College. Shane has worked on the West Coast for 40 Years, predominantly in the mining industry, he was partner in an Electrical Contracting Business for 25 years and more recently is employed at Bluestone Tin Mine as Electrical Principal/Inspector.

Shane is a board member of West-Northwest Working, council’s representative of The Regional Education and Employment Focus Group and is council's representative to the Cradle Coast Authority.

Shane is active in the community, is Scout Leader in Queenstown and has been part of the Scout Group for 40 years. Additionally, he was Past President and now Vice President of The Queenstown Club, Past President and now Public Officer for Queenstown Anglers Club, Past President and now Public Officer of Queenstown Lions Club, Previous Chair and now Deputy Chair for the Unconformity Board.
